Frequently asked questions

Can a foreigner open a personal bank account in Serbia?

Yes. Non-residents can open personal accounts in Serbian banks with a valid passport. Banks may also ask for proof of address and the reason for opening the account.

What is the difference between a resident and a non-resident account?

Once you hold a Serbian residence permit you are treated as a resident client and have access to the full range of products. Without residence you open a non-resident account, which covers everyday banking, a debit card and international transfers.

Do I need to come to Serbia?

Usually yes, once. Serbian banks identify personal clients in person at the branch. We book the appointment, prepare the paperwork and come with you, so it typically takes one visit.

Will I get a debit card and online banking?

In most cases yes. You receive a debit card and access to mobile and online banking.
