What your passport allows
The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that Italian citizens need no visa for visits of up to 90 days in a six-month period from the first entry, and that an ID card is accepted for travel. For a longer stay you file for temporary residence, normally in Serbia during the permitted stay.
Signing the power of attorney in Italy
A notary in Italy certifies your signature on the power of attorney we prepare, and the notarial document is then apostilled by the competent Italian office. Italy has been in the Hague Apostille Convention since 1978. The treaty between Italy and Serbia covers only some documents, so for company registration we use the apostille. The original travels to Belgrade by courier. See the power of attorney page for other countries.
Leaving Italian tax residence
Italy and Serbia have a double tax treaty in force. Under Italian law you are generally resident if, for most of the tax year, you are registered in the civil registry, or have your residence or domicile in Italy. Moving abroad and registering with AIRE is the formal step, but the tax office can still look at where your real centre of life is. Keeping a home, a family or a business in Italy can weigh against you.
Our Italian pages go further: residenza fiscale in Serbia and aprire una società in Serbia. Serbian residency follows where you actually live, or 183 days in twelve months, and the Serbian rates are on the tax residency page.
Banks, source of funds and the company
A Serbian bank asks about owners, control and the source of funds. An Italian entrepreneur with a Serbian company, a lease and a permit has a clear story. We prepare the file. The bank decides.
How it runs, step by step
- You write to us in English or Italian: what the company will do, where you live, who moves with you.
- Written plan, engagement agreement and invoice, then payment by bank transfer.
- Notary and apostille in Italy, and the original to Belgrade by courier.
- Registration at the APR, usually about five working days after the original arrives.
- Residence application in Serbia, the registered address with the white card, and the bank account.
